Idiot...

Some moron is trying to sue Atkins Nutritionals Inc. because he needed an angioplasty after trying to subsist on pastrami and cheesecake.

There's some really telling information in this article, though:

Before starting the diet, his cholesterol was 146, a frighteningly low number. Interesting, however, that it was this low, yet apparently he was still overweight. That doesn't give a whole lot of credence to the Pritikin/rabbit food types in terms of physical maintenance.

Secondly, I don't care how you make it, cheesecake is not a health food. To get adequate sweetness, you either have to load it with sugar or use dangerous artificial sweeteners, which aren't good for you, either. We won't even go into the crust. He'd have been better off just eating the cream cheese plain.

Of course, the misinformed press are going to blame his heart condition on his cholesterol being at a healthy 230, and not take into account lifestyle factors (such as stress levels) or possible mistakes he was making with the diet, not to mention his prior obviously unhealthy lifestyle.

Just you watch — He'll switch back to the rabbit food diet, start popping Crestor, die of a stroke in a few years, and his family will try to sue Atkins Nutritionals again.
